In the continent of Fire Emblem 9 there are two main races: beorcs (humans) and laguz (semi-humans). These
two races haven't good relationships, mainly bcause in the past laguz were slaves of the beorcs, and neither the abolshment of slavery helped to build
a sort of "fraternity" among the two parties. Beorcs occupies the countries of crimea (this is the youngest kingdom of the contintent and the one more willing to
get a better relationship with laguz countries), dain (here slavery is still in use) and beignon (the Empire which occupies more than half of the continent; the empress is willing to
get along well with laguz, but she hasn't enough strenght to prevail on the aristocrats of her government). Laguz are set in the countries of gallia (beasts), kilvas (crows), phoenincis (hawks)
and goldoa (dragons). (please note that I've played the Japanese and the PAL versions of the game and I'm trying to stick to the standard names for places and people, those might be mixed).
Laguz can trasform into several types of creatures, according to the tribe they belongs to, but when they're in their human form, they're really exposed to danger (even mainly than beorcs). They don't usually use weapons, they prefer to stick to their "natural" equipment.

Since we're speaking mainly about laguz, here you are some interesting facts about them:
- beasts: Beasts are the proudest laguz, those who mostly remember about slavery and peraphs those who most dislike beorcs. Anyway their king (Caineghis) has trust in beorcs (especially Ike and his mercenaries) and since
he does realize not all the humans are bad and dangerous, he significantly wants to help them in getting back Crimea/Ozna and build a peaceful relationship with beorcs. Beasts are divided into several tribes (cats, tigers, lion and so on) and they're powerful fighters; they're somehow weak against laguz killing weapons and fire magic, but they're surely are extremely useful characters.
- crows: Crows are despised also among the other laguz tribes since they only care for money, they easilly betrays their friends and they're ust willing to get advantages in any question. Anyway they're not that bad, they still have honour and self-estimation and if convinced, they can turn out as faithfull followers. They're really powerful fighters but of course they're weak against wind magic and arrows.
- dragons: Dragons tend to completely avoid any relationships with beorcs, mainly because the great demon king (should we call him in this way?) was a makmute himself (a dragon in the FE tradition) and so they're seen as evil creatures. Dragons are instead very respectful, they have a strong sense of honour and they're ready to fight for the good of their beloved, no matter the consequences of their actions (just think about Ena).
Dragons are the most powerful laguz, although they're really slow and they tend to be weak against thunder magic.
- hawks: Hawks are the kings of the sky and they're mainly concerned about their sence of freedom than anythign else. Tibarn himself despise humans for slavery more than anyone else. Anyway hawks try to not be involved too much in the problems of the
continent, although they can't suffer injustice and mischiefs (from both the races). Also haws are powerful fighters (Tibarn=godly characters) and they're weak against wind magic (less than crows) and arrows.
- herons: Herons have almost disappeared from the continent after what happened in Serenes 20 years before the beginning of the story of FE9. They're a peaceful trivbe and they despise violence and war. They're really beautiful (so beautiful that they're hunted by crazy aristocrats) and they have graceful voices. They're also responsible for the Fire Emblem since it was one
of they're ancenstors who confined the dark god within it. They're also the only one who can sing galdrs (ancient chants) woth they're original effects.
Herons can feel negative energy in the hair and this feeling/ability always hurt them deeply.
